What cone does the SC2 Pro fire to?
The SC2 Pro fires to Cone 6 (2232°F). This makes it ideal for glass fusing, metal clay, enameling, and low-fire ceramics. It is not suitable for stoneware or porcelain, which typically require Cone 10 temperatures (2350°F+).
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
No. The SC2 Pro operates on standard 120V household current and plugs into a regular 3-prong outlet. You will need a dedicated 20-amp circuit for optimal performance and to meet electrical code, but no hardwiring or special outlet installation is required. Most homes already have 20-amp circuits in garages or workshops.
What can I make in the SC2 Pro?
This kiln is designed for glass fusing and slumping, metal clay (silver, bronze, copper), jewelry enameling, china painting, low-fire ceramics (earthenware, terra cotta), and small-scale heat treating projects. Its Cone 6 max temperature limits it to materials that mature below 2232°F.
Does the SC2 Pro come in different colors?
The SC2 Pro features a brushed stainless steel door with a black powder-coated steel body. This is the standard finish for this model. Paragon does not offer custom color options for the SC2 Pro.
Is this kiln covered under warranty if I buy it online?
Yes, but only if you purchase from an authorized Paragon dealer like Peach State Pottery. Paragon's one-year limited warranty is valid only on kilns sold through authorized dealers and must be registered within 30 days of delivery. Kilns purchased from unauthorized resellers or private sellers are not covered.
