Common questions
Can I plug this into a regular wall outlet?
Yes. The HB86E runs on standard 120-volt household power and uses a NEMA 5-15 plug. You'll need a dedicated 15-amp circuit for safe operation, which means no other high-draw appliances should share the same circuit breaker. Most modern outlets can accommodate this, but verify your circuit capacity before use.
What size test tiles or pieces can I fire in this kiln?
The 8×8×6-inch chamber accommodates standard 2×2-inch test tiles stacked on small shelves, or individual test pieces up to about 7 inches in any dimension. This is large enough for glaze testing, small sculpture samples, jewelry components, or miniature production tests. You can fire multiple tiles per load with appropriate shelving.
Does this kiln come with shelves and posts?
No, kiln furniture is sold separately. You'll need shelves and posts sized for the 8×8-inch chamber. We recommend purchasing a furniture kit designed specifically for this model to maximize usable space and protect the kiln floor from glaze drips.
How long does a typical Cone 10 firing take?
Due to the small chamber size and 1800-watt heating capacity, expect firing times of 6-8 hours to reach Cone 10 depending on your programmed ramp rate and load density. The compact size means relatively quick turnaround for test results compared to full-size production kilns.
How is the warranty activated?
Register your kiln with Olympic within 30 days of delivery to activate the one-year limited warranty. Registration must be completed through Olympic's website using your serial number and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. Warranty coverage includes manufacturing defects but does not cover elements, thermocouples, or other consumable components.
Not sure if the HB86E is the right kiln for your space? Our team can help you evaluate test kiln options, electrical requirements, and accessories for your studio.

Freight Damage Is Not Warranty Damage

Damage that occurs during shipping or delivery is not treated as a manufacturing warranty defect. Freight damage must be documented at delivery and handled through the freight claim process.

Please inspect your shipment carefully before signing for delivery. Take photos or video of the packaging before unpacking and continue documenting the unpacking process, especially if you notice any visible damage.

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your Olympic kiln has a warranty-related issue, contact Peach State Pottery with your order information and a description of the issue. We will help review the situation and assist with the next steps.

If the issue is not resolved through the retailer, Olympic Kilns must be contacted in writing within six (6) days of the first indication of the defect.

Olympic Kilns will determine which parts appear to require repair and will provide instructions for shipment when needed.

  • Requested parts must be packaged carefully and shipped freight prepaid.
  • The customer is responsible for dismantling and reinstalling parts.
  • The customer is responsible for packaging and shipping costs unless otherwise stated.
  • Only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns should be shipped.

If an entire kiln is returned for warranty repair, the customer is responsible for prepaying the cost of packaging and shipping both to and from the factory.

Repair, Replacement, or Refund

If Olympic Kilns determines that the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, Olympic Kilns will repair, replace, or refund as appropriate within thirty (30) days.

Repaired or replacement parts will be shipped back to the customer at Olympic Kilns’ cost using the customer’s package. The customer is responsible for reinstalling the parts.

Non-Warranty Repairs

If the parts sent to Olympic Kilns require repair or replacement for a reason not covered by the warranty, no work will be performed until the customer authorizes the work and makes payment arrangements.

Limits of Warranty Coverage

Olympic Kilns shall not be liable for injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of its products.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to every customer. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.

Customer Responsibilities

For warranty service, the customer may be responsible for dismantling, packaging, and shipping only the parts requested by Olympic Kilns.
