You'll need a dedicated gas line with proper pressure regulation, adequate ventilation (typically a vented kiln room or outdoor shelter), a stable non-combustible floor surface, and clearance from combustible materials per local fire codes. The kiln must be properly vented to exhaust combustion gases. Most installations also benefit from overhead ventilation or a downdraft system.

Yes. Kiln furniture (shelves, posts, stilts) is sold separately as an optional accessory. The 28.25-inch diameter chamber typically uses 26-inch or 27-inch round shelves. We recommend purchasing a furniture kit sized specifically for the 2827G to maximize loading efficiency. High-alumina shelves are recommended for gas firing due to their durability in reduction atmospheres.

Updraft kilns have the burner positioned at the bottom with heat rising naturally through the chamber and exiting at the top.
