Olympic Kilns 1818FLE Electric Kiln
The 1818FLE is Olympic's low-profile front-loading kiln, built for glass fusing, slumping, and other flat-work firing where a tall chamber isn't needed. Its wide, shallow interior makes loading and unloading large flat pieces simple, and the front-loading door gives you full access to the chamber floor without reaching over a wall. An optional quartz viewing window lets you watch your work develop in real time.

What’s included
Bartlett 3K-CF electronic controller
Cone fire and ramp/hold programming entered with simple scroll up/down buttons. Straightforward operation for fusing and slumping schedules.
Front-loading swing door
Wide door access to the full chamber floor — ideal for loading large flat glass pieces or wide ceramic work without reaching over a wall.
Low-profile chamber design
12″ peak height keeps the firing chamber shallow and wide, matching the footprint of glass slumping molds and flatwork.

Visible from across the studio — always know at a glance whether the kiln is powered and firing.
Stainless steel jacket and metal stand
Durable exterior and a sturdy stand position the kiln at a comfortable working height for loading and unloading.

Solid state relay
Tighter temperature control, longer element life, no clicking noise, lower energy use. No moving parts — likely to last the full life of the kiln.
Genesis touchscreen controller
Upgrade from the standard 3K-CF to a touchscreen interface storing up to 12 programs with 32 segments each — ideal for repeatable fusing and slumping schedules.
Shelving and kiln furniture
Fiber paper, shelf primer, and posts sized for glass work in this chamber. Order with the kiln to avoid a separate shipping charge.
Controller upgrade
Genesis Touchscreen — Bartlett InstrumentsRecommended
Replaces the standard 3K-CF with a touchscreen interface and expanded program storage. Especially useful for glass work, where slow, multi-segment ramp/hold/anneal schedules are the norm.
- Store up to 12 programs with 32 segments each
- Adjust temp or add time mid-firing
- Delay start, preheat, cone offset, skip step
- Cone fire table built in for easy reference
- Review firing profile before or during firing
- Works with both 208V and 240V configurations
Common questions
Is this kiln for ceramics or glass?
The 1818FLE's wide, shallow chamber and front-loading design make it especially well suited to glass fusing and slumping, though it can also be used for low-fire ceramic work up to Cone 8. If you're firing tall ceramic pieces, a top-loading stackable model is usually a better fit.
Should I add the quartz viewing window?
The viewing window is popular for glass work since you can watch fusing or slumping happen in real time without opening the door and losing heat. Keep in mind it caps maximum firing temperature at 1700°F, so skip it if you need to fire closer to this kiln's full Cone 8 / 2300°F range.
Do I need an electrician to install this kiln?
Yes. The 1818FLE runs on 240V or 208V and requires a dedicated circuit. Most home studios don't have this pre-installed. A licensed electrician can typically add the circuit in a few hours — we're happy to send the spec sheet to your electrician directly.
Does buying from Peach State Pottery affect my warranty?
No. We are an authorized Olympic Kilns dealer. Your two-year warranty is fully valid and you have direct access to Olympic's factory support team. Buying from an unauthorized seller or the used market can void your warranty entirely.
Not sure if the 1818FLE is the right kiln for your work?
We’re authorized Olympic Kilns dealers based in Atlanta. Call, email, or chat — we’ll give you a straight answer about sizing, the viewing window option, and accessories before you spend a dollar.
