One thing to put to your electrician: a kiln is a continuous load, and the usual 125% sizing rule puts a 33-amp continuous draw at 41.25 amps, which is just over the 40-amp breaker Jen-Ken specifies. Jen-Ken's own sources do not contradict each other here, so we have published their figure rather than withholding it, but this is a case where we would want a licensed electrician to sign off on the breaker before anything is wired. What it will not do is mid-fire or high-fire stoneware: cone 6 is out of reach, let alone cone 10. If pottery is the main event, buy a ceramic kiln and keep this one for glass. If you fire glass most of the time and want the option of a low-fire load, this is exactly the kiln for it.

How does it compare with the 2815 3"?Wider and thicker. The 2815 3" gives you 28 inches of shelf instead of 24 and three-inch brick instead of the standard wall, which Jen-Ken rates at roughly 20% more insulation, at the cost of a 45-amp circuit instead of 33. If you fire several times a week, the heavier brick pays back in element life and running cost; if you fire occasionally, this is the sensible buy.

What actually comes in the crate?Jen-Ken does not publish a crate contents list for every model, so we do not want to guess.
